Use your sound card as a Packet TNC with MixW and RMS Express.
Thanks To John Ohm, W8IS for the inspiration for this article.
Create a virtual com port pair. (How?: http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50062.aspx?Keywords=com0com)
In MixW Veiw>Menu>Layout 2.
In MixW set your sound card.
In MixW check Mode>Packet> then select Mode>Mode Settings. Enter your callsign and check Emulate KISS TNC on TNC emulation port.
In MixW check Mode>Packet> then select Mode>Mode Settings>Modem and select VHF 1200 baud (Standard, 1200/2200Hz).
Here are the rest of my MixW AX.25 settings.
In MixW select Hardware>TNC emulation and set as shown below.
In RMS Express select Packet WL2K then open a session.
In Packet Winlink 2000 Session select Setup.
In Packet WL2K/P2P Setup select TNC-X and Serial port COM16.
Press Update.
Now open a new Packet Winlink 2000 Session, enter the callsign of the station you wish to connect to and up to two digipeaters then press Start.
