M110A Flex Configuration for Windows 7 (Updated 2/20/13)

This information is updated every time I discover new settings that improve the performance of M110A.

STOP PowerSDR and any other application that uses VAC.
  • Create a virtual audio cable pair. (How?: http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50230.aspx?Keywords=virtual+audio)
    NOTES:
    • You MUST purchase this program. The free version transmits periodic advertisements that will corrupt your digital data.
    • For best stability, use VAC 4.11 or 4.12.
    • Start the VAC Control Panel (Windows Start>All Programs>Virtual Audio Cable>Control Panel) and set it like this:
NOTE: Any time you make changes to VAC you must first stop PowerSDR and any other programs that use it.

Start PowerSDR and click Setup then set the Audio Primary Buffer Size, Sample Rate and uncheck Latency (Updated 9/8/12)

Enable the VAC 1 pair in PowerSDR (Flex 5000 users with 2nd receiver, do the same for VAC 2)

Configure the DSP Tab - NEW 2/20/13

Flex 3000 : Enable port 18 for PTT in PowerSDR. NOTE DTR is checked

Flex 5000 : Enable port 18 for PTT in PowerSDR. NOTE RTS is checked

Select Port 8 and DTR/RTS for PTT
Click PCSDM to open PC Sound Device Setup.
Set the input and output devices as shown below.
NOTE: I use virtual port COM6-COM16 for interfacing to an external terminal program.
If you are running the M110A DMT without an external terminal set DATA PORT to Zero (0).

Stop PowerSDR and synchronize the sample rate between VAC and Vista/Win7 Sound Devices. (How?: http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50504.aspx).
